Texas is set to issue an $832 million loan to the state’s Medicaid program, the state said Friday.
The Texas Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) says the loan was authorized by Gov.
Greg Abbott on June 12.
The state said the $8 million loan will be used for medical care, long-term care, community mental health and other care needs, including for people in high-risk categories.
The state said it will give priority to low-income families, children and people with disabilities.
The governor has not given his approval for the loan.
